Album cover meme

Here's a fun meme from Science Girl at Curiosity Killed the Cat:

1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.

2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.

3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result in your own journal.

Here it is:

That actually worked pretty well!

I did cheat slightly; the name of the band should have been Blue Earth Lake Provincial Park, which is actually not too far from my sister-in-law's place. We'll be driving out there in March so maybe I should go and pay homage. (I can't quite imagine the conversation with hubby when I tell him exactly why we have to go so far out of our way before reaching his sister's, which is a paradise of good food, great company, lots of booze, cute nephews and fab skiing. We usually try to get up there as fast as possible and stay as long as we can). The quote is from Mark Twain ("We are always more anxious to be distinguished for a talent which we do not possess, than to be praised for the fifteen which we do possess") and the photo is, erm, somewhere in California (sorry whoever took the photo, I accidentally closed that tab before I could give you credit and now I can't find it again).

My song-writing friend and I always said that our first album (which would, of course, include the PhD Blues) would be called All the Way to Anywhere. This was taken from one of our many cycling day trips on which we would spend too much time talking and in beer gardens, and never ever reach our intended destination. We would always lament on the way home (with sore bums and sunburn on one arm only) that it would be great to one day go all the way to, well, anywhere. With the profits we were going to buy a racehorse called Spinnaker. All we were missing was the talent to actually write any good songs.

  2. Sure thing! Here's how:

    1) fly to Vancouver,
    2) bring beer.

probably not worth the price of admission ;)

  3. You never know when I might be in Vancouver, so I just might take you up on that some day :)

  5. ooo - I'll keep that in mind when I next head that way, because surely I will at some point. (I did almost take a job with the Vancouver Aquarium...did I tell you that??)

  6. Oh, too bad the job wasn't right for you! That would have been fun. You could have let me in after hours to play with the sea otters (soooo cute).

Ah well, I am always open to meeting up with whoever is in town. I've never met a blog buddy in real life before (although some real life friends do read this blog). Has anyone else done the meet-up thing?

  7. I've met one other, which was cool. I'd really like to meet more.

  8. And you know, I suspect that some live reasonably near to me, too. huh.

  9. Yeah, I suspect the same!

Was the person more or less how you expected them to be?

  10. yes, exactly as I imagined. But I hadn't been reading her blog for very long when I met her, so I didn't have an elaborate image to be toppled.

  11. You know, I've often thought it'd be lots of fun to meet some of my fellow bloggers. Perhaps we should arrange a group get-together sometime. Just a small group, though, to reassure those of us who still want to be anonymous online!

By the way, EcoGeoFemme, I've long suspected you live in a city which is only a 5-hour drive from mine....

  12. Definitely! Unfortunately I am still without my replacement Canadian permanent resident card (original stolen on honeymoon - very long story as to why I haven't got the replacement yet) so I can't leave the country right now. Actually, I can, but then I wouldn't be able to get back in. So maybe next year...

  13. mad hatter, I have the same suspicion. A Midwest blogger meet-up would be fun. Plus BC bloggers next year. :)
