Procrastination Resolution Procrastination

I've been reading a lot of the blogosphere's current crop of resolution posts this week. I came across a comment in one thread (that of course I can't find again to link to) saying that the darkest time of the year is a terrible time to try to implement change. We should all eat chocolate on the sofa and wait for the Spring Equinox, when we can emerge into the light and warmth full of optimism and healthy new habits.

So, that resolution about procrastinating less?

It can wait.

My new plan is already paying off. At last night's poker game I was free to have a couple of beers and eat the cookies and chocolates that our hosts had reluctantly denied themselves, while they drank water with lemon juice and ate salad.

  1. Good for you! And why limit the eating chocolate on the sofa to just the dark times of the year? We should do that all year! :-)

  2. Oh, believe me, I do eat chocolate all year round, I just feel guiltier about it when I'm not exercising much! Gym visits definitely tail off during the dark months; I like to go before work, and my habit of cycling regardless of frost and patches of snow on the road is dangerous enough when I leave the house late enough to be able to see where I'm going!

Spring Equinox is a much better time to start leaving the house earlier, although with any luck I'll manage a few gym visits before then.

  4. Oooo... I like the eating chocolate on the sofa plan waaaaay better than making a bunch of resolutions I'm just going to break anyways!

  5. Eco - can't complain! (most of the time...)

UR - don't fight nature! It's unnatural to be conscientious at this time of year.
