6 word autobiography meme

Another day, another meme! This one is from ScienceGirl, and here are the instructions:

1. Write your own six word memoir

2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration if you’d like

3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to this original post if possible so we can track it as it travels across the blogosphere

4. Tag five more blogs with links

5. And don’t forget to leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play

The first one that comes to mind is:

Love blogging but suck at memes

Seriously though, this is tough. If I'd been asked for one sentence it would have been easy:

"It's better to regret doing something, than to regret not doing it".

I can't seem to distill that though.

Maybe it'll be easier if I break this down into separate areas of my life.

My career:

Left academia, missed it, came back

My decision to apply to stay in Canada after my initial 2 year work visa expired:

Came for job, stayed for men

(well, one man in particular, but men is funnier. Yes, that's me in the photo, taken in 2002 before I met Mr E Man!)

Talking of which, Mr E Man inadvertently came up with his own 6 word biography of me on Sunday. I was trying to talk to him about a certain excellent football result while he was watching The Godfather, which wasn't going down too well.

He said something like, "this is a very complex plot and I need to make sure I don't miss anything important".

I replied, "well, I'm very complex too, maybe you should make sure you don't miss anything important that I say".

He replied, "you're not complex and I won't miss anything important. It'll just be Newcastle blah blah science blah blah".

To sum up:

You're funny; divorce lawyer on standby.

Erm, tags... if you'd like to join in, please consider yourself tagged! Is that OK?

  2. I like that, "Newcastle blah blah science blah blah." I'm pretty sure that Dr. Man feels that way sometime (except substitute something else in for Newcastle-- I don't follow sports).

  3. Yes, I stayed for the men, and now I distract them from their movies with my Newcastle blah blah science blah blah! To be fair I do go on a bit once I get my teeth into a topic.

  4. I'll try this one later. I don't now how many times you've tagged and didn't come through. I'll do it this time.

  5. Haha, you don't suck at memes, I love all of your six word autobiographies! I think my favorite is Mr E's though....

  6. Thanks, cae! I am now modeling my take on this meme on your approach--it's not an easy one!

"Came for job, stayed for men." I like that =)

  7. Makita, you've had some good reasons so no worries! I look forward to reading your take on this one.

Arduous, thanks! Mr E Man's version was probably the most accurate of the lot...

Bean-Mom, yours just popped up in my reader. On my way over...

  9. Canadian men are indeed awesome, if you meet the right ones, which is not an easy thing to do in Vancouver! The dating scene here sucks. I only went on 2 dates in my first year here and they were both disastrous. I'd just about given up when I met Mr E Man, who went to high school with my friend's husband. Through him I've met lots of other awesome men though!

  10. I had problems with this one too--I seemed to only be able to come up with 5-word memoirs!

  11. That's very impressive! I'm sure 6 words is just the maximum...
