Safety first!

Our various sets of friends who had babies last year have done very well for themselves - all babies are healthy and cute, and thanks to gifts from friends and family with older kids, they've barely had to buy anything themselves. Case in point: Morgan's parents have been given several car seats for kids of various sizes. So when my friends brought their 18 month old to visit earlier this year, we knew who to turn to for a loaner seat.

The problem came when we wanted to give the seat back. Our friends had just been given a new and better seat, and said that we could keep the other one.

Oh goody, just what I've always wanted.

Lilah's parents don't need it either, so it's just sitting in our house until we find time to take it to a charity of some sort.

But at least someone's getting some use out of it:

  2. When I left the house a little later, she was curled up in the seat, fast asleep and snoring gently.

Yes, my cat snores. Is this normal?

  3. Ha ha, one of my cats snores too.

Re - unwanted shit. I hate -HATE- it when people do that. If it was me I would just take it back and leave it in their yard. Your shit, your problem. Not mine.

    Today I am grumpy.

  4. Cath> I guess it comes in handy if you guys have more visitors? Or maybe there are some poor people who would like to get a seminew carseat? I saw the charity comment... People around here though are really finicky about baby car seats. They never would take a used one. I guess it might make sense since they don't seem to be _superexpensive_ but still... maybe if you can show them that nothing is wrong with it?

I can see how the seat would be comfy for cats, no room for evil sibling to come crashing with you ;)

  5. Tideliar, glad to hear it! Saba is a very idiosyncratic cat, but it's good to know that she's not a complete freak.

As for the car seat... meh. We'll find a home for it eventually. Until then, Saba can have it!

Chall, maybe, but we're kinda hoping for a break from visitors once my parents leave!

I think people are more likely to take a second-hand item if they know the people they're getting it from, which is the case with this car seat.

  6. I had to be in a carseat much longer than most kids because I was so small for my age. I used to like it though because it meant nobody could crowd my space in the car. Important in a family of 7! Maybe Saba just needed her space. :)

  7. That's great though as the carseat will probably operate as a moses basket for the cat when he falls off the houseboat.

  8. Kimli, I get hours of entertainment from these cats :)

Eco, excellent point! (Wow, 7!!!!). The two cats do usually prefer to sleep (and snuggle their hoomins) separately.

Antipodean, that dream has sadly been crushed, but given Saba's habit of falling off things, I have considered seeing how she would react to being buckled in! (I didn't think about it for too long though. I value my hands).

Google fell off the coffee table yesterday, so I guess I have two "special" cats on my hands now. We'd thought Google was relatively normal...
