Wren and Stumped-y

Damnit, Microsoft!

Why?

Just... why?

I mistype "were" all the freaking time.

The title of this blog post is the first time I've deliberately typed "wren" in... years? decades? ever?

So why is it the first option on the suggestions list?! It's the least common (and alphabetically the last) word on there!

Booooooooo

/grumpy & crampy & keen to get outta here

  1. It might be assuming that because you typed "wre" that the most likely choice was a word that begins with those exact 3 letters. It's probably not sophisticated enough to take into account things like whether that word makes sense in that position, or whether it's a word that you commonly type.

Or maybe you just wanted to vent, in which case I'll agree that most spell checkers [deleted] suck [deleted] [deleted]!

  2. Yes, I guess that's their logic.

    Their logic sucks.

Yes, I was mostly just venting :)

  3. The first thing I do when I obtain a new computer (or a new install of Word) is turn all the autocorrect features off. All of them.

Sorry, I've just come from Nature Network and I'm in a p**sy mood as a result (not crampy, but definitely grumpy). Bloody broken thing that it is.

  4. Yes, I should stop whining and actually do something about it, I suppose.

We should write the Nat Net blues or something, to go with the new colour scheme.

    Woke up this morning
    Wanted to comment so bad
    But the Network is broken
    It makes me so mad
I don't like this new stuff,
Take me back to what we had
Wooooh I got the Nat Net blues

    Or something like that.

Incidentally, have you been looking at the new sections of people's profiles? There are some interesting objectives and skill sets out there :)

  5. Your skills are good, as is RPG's ("Purveyor of AWESOMESAUCE(TM)" I think it says).

I couldn't be arsed to update mine, it was so bloody fiddly to do.

    /still grumpy
